Greetings

This is a blog dedicated to exploring life in Oklahoma City from the perspective of a pedestrian living in the downtown area. Our goal is to document the plausibility of being carless in a city that to most people seems only to be manageable with the assistance of a motor vehicle. We will document our challenges, triumphs, likes, dislikes, rankings of aspects of daily life, and serve as a sort of clearinghouse for all activities that we would consider "walkable" from the downtown.

  1. I can't believe someone else is doing it! We have been car-free in OKC for the past two years - my husband (sidburgess.com) and I with our 3 kids. Great to see another family making a go of it! Good luck.

    1. We're very excited to be carless; especially in a city where nearly everyone gives us funny looks when we say we don't have a car! I'm amazed that you guys are doing it with three kids. I'd love to meet you and Sid sometime, so let's work something out.

  3. So excited to find this blog! I just relocated to downtown OKC too, and like you, I'm doing it carless. I'd love to compare notes sometime. Definitely great to know others are making a go of it too - keep it up!

    1. Glad you found us! It's always great to find another car-less person in OKC... there aren't many, but there are some. We'd love to meet up and find out how you're handling the situation, and share our growing knowledge of the city. Shoot me an e-mail at JohnMTankard@gmail.com and we can make plans.

  4. my goodness. this is fabulous. my husband and i are living in an established neighborhood in bethany, ok and i'm trying to be as carless as possible. my husband supports me, but isn't trying to go carless himself. anyways, i'm so glad there are other people who are doing this, too!

    1. There are so many benefits to reducing dependency on motor vehicles, and it's important that the idea spreads, so thank you for commenting, and keep up the good fight!
